Roda Band (pronounced: Ho - dah) is an Atlanta based musical ensemble specializing in authentic Brazilian bossa nova and contemporary jazz. Rodaband will offer style and a unique versatility to your event.
The Roda Band repertoire consists of Brazilian classic compositions and jazz standards. In a single set, listeners may enjoy music by Antonio Carlos Jobim (i.e. Girl from Ipanema, Corcovado), world famous compositions from the great American songbook (i.e. Fever, Fly Me to the Moon) as well as contemporary favorites by artists such as Eric Clapton, Sting, Dave Matthews, and Stevie Wonder. To summarize, Rodaband has the sophisticated sensibility of artists like Diana Krall and Harry Connick Jr. driven by the soothing syncopation of dueling South American guitar stylings.
Roda Band performs with the best audio equipment available. At each event listeners enjoy the clarity of a Bose PAS sound system. Incredible quality. Surprising portability.
Image an upright bass, classical guitar, electric jazz guitar, sax/flute (or hand percussion or drums) tucked in the corner. And of course, vocals provided by D' Adam and Roberto in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. A classy arrangement - no electro-frills.
Also, Roda is completing the recording of their North American CD. Stay tuned for an upcoming release of original compositions!
FYI: The musical reference of "Roda" in Portuguese translates as "to encircle, to gather, to join, to experience." At each performance, Roda Band brings a positive spirit to the room - the music encircles and enjoins. The musical performances and arrangements of Roda Band draw significantly on Brazilian rhythms, jazz, and World-Groove.
